Conflict of Interest

All faculty members, Principal Investigators and Co-Investigators are required to file a COI/COC declaration within 30 days of joining UBC and at least annually thereafter, or whenever there is a significant change to your appointment or circumstances.

The Conflict of Interest/Conflict of Commitment declaration discloses the nature of, and time spent on, any competing activities outside UBC.

To file your COI/COC declaration, login to RISe and answer the 10 yes/no questions about any potentially competing activities outside UBC.

A current COI/COC declaration is required by Federal Tri-Council agencies (NSERC, CIHR and SSHRC) and is one of many ways in which UBC maintains its high ethical standards. UBC was the first university in Canada to require all faculty members and active researchers to maintain an up-to-date and approved Conflict of Interest/Commitment declaration.
